Some examples of ULRs and predicted prices
Cases selected where the car got a much higher value by the model than the real value.
Note:
Links are updated on a daily level but some advertisements may have disappeared from the website later.
Advertisements can change slightly over time so the predicted price may also differ.
How to interpret the results?
The prices represent what the AI model learned from nearly 100 thousand samples of cars.
Some cars may be valued much higher than the original prices suggest. Based on the data some features are really important and for example, a low mileage car can have a really good predicted price even if other features don't suggest that.
SHAP plot shows how each feature increase or decrease the prediction that starts from the average car price. More about it in the blog post.
A Word of Caution
While our Car Price Prediction API showcases the potential of data science in harnessing publicly available data, it's important to tread carefully. Do not solely rely on the API's predictions when purchasing a car. Our intention was to create a demonstration tool that sheds light on the intricacies of building a data science project.
It's vital to remember that numerous variables influence a car's true value, many of which may not be accounted for in online advertisements or our current model. Although our API might assist in highlighting potential deals, it's always recommended to consult experts, carry out personal research, and examine the car in person before making any buying decisions.
